AMR announces American, AMR Eagle January traffic and revenue results

Pittsburgh, Feb. 8 - AMR Corp. said American Airlines, Inc. and AMR Eagle Holding Corp. reported consolidated capacity and traffic for January that were 0.2% and 1.8% higher than in January 2012.

According to a company news release, the figures resulted in a consolidated load factor of 78.9%, an increase of 1.3 points versus the same period of last year.

AMR said the subsidiaries' domestic capacity and traffic were 0.4% and 3% higher year over year, respectively, resulting in a domestic load factor of 79.9%, two points higher than in January 2012.

The company said international load factor of 79.5% was 0.1 points lower than January of last year, as traffic increased 0.1% while capacity remained flat.

AMR said the Pacific entity recorded the highest load factor of 80.6%, an increase of 0.3 points versus January 2012.

January's consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile (Prasm) increased an estimated 3.1% compared with January 2012, the release said. On a consolidated basis, the company boarded 8.6 million passengers in January.

AMR Corp., the Fort Worth, Texas-based parent of American Airlines, filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 29, 2011 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Its Chapter 11 case number is 11-15463.
